This pretty much balances out every sleepless night he gave us the first year.

Yesterday, I came home from work and opened the porch door. Sammy came running, threw his arms around my legs and said, "I love yooou!"

Now, this is the first time he's said I love you, and even better, it was completely spontaneous and perfect. It made me want to go back outside and open that door a hundred times over and over and over.

What a wonderful surprise to come home too!

Yeah they can really charm your heart like that. Keegan always asks for hugs and tells me what a good mom I am. He has me wrapped around his finger.

That makes all the aggrevation worth it. The temper tantrums, whining, the back talk...etc! But when they out of the blue say 'I love you" and hug you so tight...all else disappears.

That is the best sound isn't it? :)

What a blessing! Those are the moments that make motherhood great!!!

Love you and Merry Christmas!!

A truly perfect moment. Merry Christmas. ;)

Ms. Erika: You know I've been reading since like, 2002. I've been missing since November, when I left the Midwest for the west coast. I'm only now visiting you again and catching up reading. This short post made me sit up and hit the comment section. Again, you know I've been reading for years. But this has got to be one of my top three posts ever. Your words of "It made me want to go back outside and open that door a hundred times over and over and over." are just perfect. Over and over and over.

My name is erika-renee, but call me eka - pronounced "eh-ka." I'm suddenly somehow 32, though I still love pigtails and overalls and silly, happy things. I live north of Boston, and I'm happily married to him - we met 15 years ago in high school in NY. I blogged at snazzykat.com for almost 6 years before deciding to make the switch to this domain in Dec 06.

I'm a mama! SleepydoodleLittle Samson Daniel was born on February 24th, 2006. Sammy was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He underwent his first open heart surgery at 4 days old and his second at 5 months old. He will need another surgery when he's between 2 and 3 years old. His mama and daddy, however, think he's absolutely perfect. You can read all about his birth here, or all about him on his site, baby samson.
