« I'm totally indulging in a mid-afternoon glass of wine and cheesy chick-flick, "Little Black Book" | Main | Seriously, people. »

Twelve apparently snuck off with thirteen when we weren't looking.

For our records, because it was so freakin' cute, though really - no one else will probably enjoy it as much unless you're somehow related to the CUTEST FREAKING KID IN THE UNIVERSE.

(That'd be Sammy, in case you were somehow unclear on that.)

So his language has simply exploded the past week or so, and it is just so much fun. I was putting him to bed tonight when he spied the bear on his shelf. "Teehy bear?" I gave it to him. He then saw the giraffe - "Gi - rahf?" Because I can't deny this kid a single thing, into his bed went the giraffe.

"More bear?"

And so it went - "More bear? More bear?" until it was a game, and I was in his closet digging out all the stuffed monkeys he was given when he was born. Once we got to ten additional bears in bed with him - I had to cut him off. It was getting a little snug in there, considering he already had all five Backyardigans, his L'il Heart and L'il Samson, Cookie Monster, dinosaur, Snuggle Puppy and his plastic Mickey Mouse (Minnie's gone missing and we fear she may have had an unfortunate run-in with the garbage can, as throwing things out is one of Sammy's greatest joys).

And then he started counting all of his bears.

"One... two... free... fouh... fiyh..." all the way to eleven, and then paused and continued.

"Fouh...teeeeeen."

Apparently pleased with himself, he took Mickey and flopped down on his pillow, a huge grin on his sleepy little face.

Seriously - every stage is just the best thing ever.

That is such a great age. It's the best when they finally can communicate - less frustration for everyone! My son (oldest) sleeps with only a few select stuffed animals. My daughter, on the other hand, has probably 30 buddies and books in bed with her. She keeps adding and adding. I don't care as long as there is still room for her to sleep. She's in a twin so it's starting to get snug.

And it only get's better. My heart simply melted the day Trevor came over to me, I had, had a bad day at work, asked me "was a matta mommy"? Then gave me a huge hug, big kiss and said "I love you mommy" "You're a good girl".
With him everything is good girl, good boy.
The other night he said he likes Eigo (Diego) and that Eigo was his best friend. It's all so amazing.

I'm a mama! SleepydoodleLittle Samson Daniel was born on February 24th, 2006. Sammy was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He underwent his first open heart surgery at 4 days old and his second at 5 months old. He will need another surgery when he's between 2 and 3 years old. His mama and daddy, however, think he's absolutely perfect. You can read all about his birth here, or all about him on his site, baby samson.
