I'm like famous or something, heavy emphasis on the "something"

So I was on the radio tonight. And during those 30 seconds, I swear I said, "Fantastic" no fewer than 10 times. "You got the right answer!" "Fantastic!" "You get a free travel mug!" "Fantastic!" "You're an idiot!" "FANTASTIC! But dude, I'm on the radio - and that's like - FANTASTIC!"

Seriously.

Nothing incredibly exciting - I was trapped in traffic trying to rescue Jay from the nightmare that was post-World-Series-parade Boston - and listening to Country 102.5 (I'll be damned if I can ever remember the call letters). The question for the super-duper prize? 1/3 of all people lie to their parents about this very important thing.

I assumed most of the callers were going to go for "their sex lives", so I went the finances route. After three times of getting through and "getting closer!", I finally nabbed it.

Apparently, a sad third of us lie to our folks about our jobs.

So he recorded our little conversation and the part where he tells me I get a fabulous 102.5 travel mug and that the fine folks at Dunkin Donuts were going to throw in a gift card - and then played it back a little bit later. It was funny to hear. I'm such a dork.

But whatever! I was on the radio - and I got free Dunkies to boot! FANTASTIC!

102.5 - WKLB. What time were you on the air??? Which DJ? I can't believe I missed you!

Way to go with winning the free travel mug and the Dunkin Donuts gift card!

I am always so afraid to call into a radio station for fear they will record me and I will sound like a dork. One of these days I need to just have fun like you and go for it.

Ha ha! Way to go.

I wonder if you can call the DJ and have them send you a playback of it.. That would be good to have. Congrats on the dunkin!

rc

that IS fantastic! :)

Congrats - free anything is good and it is such a trip to hear yourself on anything - 15 minutes and all that. One year I made a donation to Chicago Public Radio and they asked me to do a recorded statement about why you should donate (I was 26 and in grad school and I think they thought I could appeal to the "younger demographic" Ha Ha). In any case, I never heard it because they didn't tell me when they were going to play it, but a friend of mine did (I was "Holly from Chicago".) Then about 6 months later during the next pledge drive, I was at work one morning and one of the faculty members walked by, saw me in my office and said, "Was that you I heard on public radio this morning?" Made my day!

I'm a mama! SleepydoodleLittle Samson Daniel was born on February 24th, 2006. Sammy was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He underwent his first open heart surgery at 4 days old and his second at 5 months old. He will need another surgery when he's between 2 and 3 years old. His mama and daddy, however, think he's absolutely perfect. You can read all about his birth here, or all about him on his site, baby samson.
