A post probably only other parents will bother to read. And that's okay.

Not sure if we're headed into the real thing, but Sammy peed on the potty. Not a flukey one time, but three times in the last 24 hours.

He's been pretty good about "practicing" (sitting on his potty and hanging out), as well as very interested in when we head into the bathroom. (He'll actually throw a fit if I don't bring him in with me.) Last night we saw him straining and knew he was pooping, so we raced him to his potty. A little poop and a little pee later, he waved bye bye to all of it and went on his merry way. Then, later, I was getting him ready for his bath when he started to wet the changing table. I told him that we pee pee in the potty - scooped him up, sat him on the real toilet and told him it was okay to go - and he did! And just now - I was changing his diaper, figured I'd give it a shot, plopped him on the real toilet again and said, "Ok, go pee pees!" AND HE DID!

I'm not too hung up on the idea of having him trained anytime soon, as I know kids tend to regress with surgery and I don't want to do all this work only to have it unravel next spring. Apparently, though, he's at the age for the first "window" for training, and I figure if we keep a low-profile, low-stress attitude about it, it'll either happen or it won't. But if he's interested, why not? I'm not racing out to buy pull-ups, but I'll play the "let's give it a shot" game and see how it goes.

Eeee. Mama's so proud. :-)

Okay - I never thought I'd see the day....but it's on sister! Red Sox and the Tribe!!! I will reserve my trash talking attitude until at least after Game 1, because the Tribe are known for turning in horrible crunch time performances - but after that - you're going down!!! ;-)

Wonderful!!! If he's interested in going pee pee on potty you're ten steps ahead then I was when Trevor was that age. And poop too. How awesome is that!!!
Right now Trevor will tell us, most of the time, that he has to go pee pee. But the pooping thing. Well, we know he can since he does it at daycare but for some controlling reason does not at home. ARG!!! Very frustrating. Good luck.

Yay for Sammy! My sister did the same thing -- she went willingly, then quit going for a while, but the fact that my parents let her get used to is is great. I can't believe Sammy's potty training. :)

Way to go Sammy!

Yay for Sammy!

That is *AWESOME*. Yay for Sammy!! Only 7 months and potty training is starting to sound pretty darn good to me!

Can you have him visit us here in MO anc give Marcus a few lessons? LOL!~

Congratulations!

Each step your son makes is definitely a memory to keep forever. Something about seeing how proud they are of themselves makes you melt inside!

I'm a mama! SleepydoodleLittle Samson Daniel was born on February 24th, 2006. Sammy was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He underwent his first open heart surgery at 4 days old and his second at 5 months old. He will need another surgery when he's between 2 and 3 years old. His mama and daddy, however, think he's absolutely perfect. You can read all about his birth here, or all about him on his site, baby samson.
