What happened to only buying him wood toys?

Ah, I love the smell of commerce in the morning. So for all our talk of resisting TV, commercialism, marketing to kids and the evil Disney empire -

I bought Sammy a Quincy doll this morning. He was squealing and bouncing up and down in his stroller - how could I resist?

It's all over now, isn't it?

Don't get me started. I am horrible with this. Everytime I go to target Devin does a song and dance over a toy and he somehow makes me cave and I buy it.

Oh, I've never seen the Little Einstein dolls! Did you find him at the Disney store? I know a 4 year old and a 10 month old who would LOVE to have one (or four) under the tree. Please share where you found him...

Falls under the category of 'before I was a mom, I said I would NEVER...' versus reality ('now that I AM a mom, I now do the very thing I swore I'd never do...")

Ummm...yeah. Except it's all about Dora in this house. :)

I definitely feel your pain.
We are still holding strong to a lot of our idealistic pre-Sophia ways. But, I sometimes think Sophia would recognize pictures of the Sesame Street cast over some of our family and friends.
And the toys...the toys...where did all these toys come from?

how dare you buy your son such an adorable doll? i mean seriously snazzy! th thought of getting your son something that would make him squeal... you are some parent. =0)

Now I want to get Abby a June doll! I haven't seen these anywhere in town though...where did you find it??

I don't think any less of you as a parent...I think we're all a bit idealistic before we're actually in the thick of it as parents!

Don't worry...Caitie loves Little Einsteins! And if you had to cave, that's a great show to cave to because of all the great classical music. And you'll be singing the theme song in no time!!! "We're heading on a trip in our favorite rocketship...."

I live north of Boston, and I'm happily married to him - we met 15 years ago in high school in NY. I blogged at snazzykat.com for almost 6 years before deciding to make the switch to this domain in Dec 06.

I'm a mama! SleepydoodleLittle Samson Daniel was born on February 24th, 2006. Sammy was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). He underwent his first open heart surgery at 4 days old and his second at 5 months old. He will need another surgery when he's between 2 and 3 years old. His mama and daddy, however, think he's absolutely perfect. You can read all about his birth here, or all about him on his site, baby samson.
